SCOTTI MARTIN, MA

THERAPY APPROACH

Scotti believes that meaningful therapy begins with feeling genuinely understood. She is passionate about creating a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental environment where children, adolescents, young adults, and parents feel comfortable being themselves while developing the confidence and skills to navigate life's challenges. Scotti balances warmth, humor, curiosity, and creativity with structure and practical skill-building, tailoring therapy to each client's unique strengths, goals, and experiences.

Her approach is grounded in person-centered, strengths-based, and trauma-informed care. Scotti draws from evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) to help clients build practical skills, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful, lasting change.

Prior to becoming a therapist, Scotti worked extensively with children with autism and other neurodevelopmental differences in behavioral health settings, collaborating with occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and families to support each child's development. She has also worked in inpatient settings with adolescents experiencing crisis, supporting them through periods of acute emotional distress while helping them build coping skills, strengthen resilience, and safely transition back to their daily lives. These experiences fostered her passion for neurodiversity-affirming care and strengthened her belief in meeting children where they are, recognizing their unique strengths, and partnering with caregivers to better understand and support their child's emotional and behavioral needs.

Scotti also has experience with the military community and enjoys working with service members, veterans, and military families. She recognizes that military life has its own unique culture, language, values, and experiences that can be difficult for those outside of it to fully understand. She values creating a space where military-connected clients feel understood, respected, and supported without needing to elaborate on every term, acronym, or reference. Scotti considers it a privilege to use her familiarity with the military to learn about the experiences of individuals while supporting them through life's challenges and transitions.

Outside of the therapy office, Scotti enjoys spending time with her dogs, Norton and Rory, playing hockey and golf, reading, spending time outdoors, and spending time with her partner, friends, and family.
