GROUP SKILLS COURSES
​​​DBT Lite Skills Course for Teens:
This is not a processing group, but rather a skills course to help you to develop four major skills:

Distress Tolerance: Helps people tolerate negative emotions by calmly recognizing negative situations and their impact

Emotion regulation: Helps people manage their feelings and reduce emotional intensity, which can help avoid harmful behaviors and emotions

Interpersonal effectiveness: Helps people communicate in healthy ways and develop more stable relationships by teaching them how to assert themselves and set boundaries

Mindfulness: Helps people focus on the present moment and observe their thoughts and emotions without judgment ​​​​​​​

Who would be a good fit?

Teens looking for an introduction to DBT skills, that do not need a higher level of care or phone coaching services
-
Parents looking for an overview of DBT skills without weekly group meetings with their teen
-
It is a requirement that participants have an individual therapist throughout the duration of this course
Details:​

Age: 13-17
When: The intake can be scheduled any time prior to October 13. The skills course will take place on Mondays 3:30-5pm, beginning October 13, 2025 (will coordinate meetings around holidays, as needed)
Where: This is an in-person course located at Novo Behavioral Health (3340 Republic Ave, Suite 110, St. Louis Park, MN 55426). Please look for the conference room entrance to the left of the main door.
Cost: The intake can be billed to insurance or be self-pay depending on client preference. The DBT Lite 12-week group skills course is not covered by insurance. Eligible participants will be asked to pay upfront for 4 sessions in the amount of $300 (1/3 of the course). Remaining sessions will be charged weekly at the rate of $75. ​

Social Skills Group:
Child and adolescent years are a time of social change and growth. Develop strong social skills in order to be successful in building and maintaining positive relationships. Learn the following skills: building self esteem, conversation skills, reading others, perspective taking and empathy, conflict resolution, friendship, bullying, peer pressure and navigating social media.

When: The skills course will take place on Tuesdays from 3-4pm, beginning October 14, 2025.

Cost: The out of pocket cost is $30/session. We will also accept BCBS, Cigna, HealthPartners, and Aetna
