RILEY ROBERTSON
THERAPY APPROACH
Riley holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from The University of Kansas and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. Riley’s journey into the field of mental health counseling is deeply informed by her experience as an elementary school teacher, where she spent several years working closely with children. This background has provided Riley with a profound understanding of the developmental, emotional, and academic challenges that children and adolescents face, making her skilled at supporting young clients in navigating these critical stages of life.
Currently, Riley is completing a graduate internship under the supervision of Katie Johnson, MA, LPCC. During her practicum, Riley gained significant experience working with clients struggling with substance abuse and complex co-occurring mental health disorders. This work has equipped Riley with a deep empathy for those battling addiction and complex co-occurring mental health disorders, as well as a robust set of skills for helping clients develop the tools they need to manage and overcome their challenges.
In therapy sessions, Riley draws from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and a person-centered approach to create a safe and supportive environment. Riley places a strong emphasis on building therapeutic relationships that empower clients to take control of their mental health journey. Whether working with children, adolescents, or young adults, Riley is committed to helping clients develop emotional regulation, positive coping skills, and mindfulness practices that will serve them throughout their lives. Riley’s practice is driven by a passion for seeing clients thrive, both in overcoming their struggles and in developing the resilience and self-awareness they need to face future challenges with confidence.
