ELLA DICKSON
THERAPY APPROACH
Ella’s path into clinical work began during her early volunteer experience at a children’s hospital, where she witnessed the impact of being present with young people during vulnerable moments and offering connection, care, and choice.
Ella approaches her work with warmth, humor, and a collaborative style. She believes individuals are the experts of their own lives and have the capacity to grow and adapt when they feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported. Her work focuses on helping clients build greater self-understanding and develop effective ways of navigating life’s challenges. She enjoys working with children, adolescents, teens, and young adults, and values building strong, trusting relationships as the foundation for meaningful change.
Her approach is grounded in evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She also provides parent coaching for caregivers of children with anxiety. Ella integrates mindfulness, cognitive restructuring, acceptance-based strategies, and exposure-based approaches, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), to support clients in building emotional awareness, increasing distress tolerance, and developing effective coping tools.
Guided by a holistic perspective, Ella believes that meaningful change involves caring for the whole person - mind, body, emotions, relationships, and environment. Her style blends warmth, humor, and a calm presence with practical tools, creating a space where children, teens, and families can build resilience, strengthen relationships, and explore new possibilities.
