ABOUT DR. AMY SCHWEIGERT

THERAPY APPROACH

Amy specializes in clinical work with children, adolescents, and their families, providing couples, family, and individual therapy, and completing comprehensive psychological evaluations. Amy has been working for over ten years in a variety of settings, including residential treatment centers, schools, community mental health centers, private practice, and an outpatient hospital clinic. Amy is eclectic in that she uses both a humanistic and systemic approach when working with clients. She has the unique ability to challenge clients in a compassionate, authentic, and supportive manner. Amy is relatable, down to earth, and meets the client where they're at.

Amy has received additional training experiences including completing comprehensive evaluations to assess for complications from prenatal exposure to alcohol and other substances, early childhood assessments and therapy, trauma work utilizing the evidence based treatment of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), court-ordered evaluations, and attachment work with families and youth who have been adopted. She is also in the process of completing certification in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and becoming endorsed as an Infant Mental Health Specialist. When Amy isn’t working, she enjoys hiking with her dog, playing with her cats, traveling, cheering on the Wisconsin Badgers, and spending time with her family.
